Charles Wakefield, DO, FACOOG

Dr. Wakefield enjoys all areas of women’s health care and performs nearly all related procedures. Because there are now more options than ever, he stays excited about the future of women’s health care. Dr. Wakefield brings experience in new, minimally-invasive surgical treatments including robotics and office-based procedures, and takes a special interest in treating and managing urinary incontinence. Dr. Wakefield regards patient needs as he would a family member’s, and feels all should be treated equally.

For six months Dr. Wakefield served in Iraq as a physician for the United States military. He enjoys teaching and was recognized at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital in Fort Campbell, Ky., with the 2009-2010 Preceptor of the Year Award. Dr. Wakefield has presented research at national conferences and is published on the topic of preeclampsia. Also a lecturer and presenter for continuing medical education programs, his presentations have covered Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), birth control, thyroid disease, urinary incontinence and infant shoulder dystocia.

Dr. Wakefield is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Osteopathic Association and Kirksville Osteopathic Alumni Association. He has received the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Resident Achievement Award, the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists Resident Award and the Ortho McNeil Pharmaceutical Research Award. A college football fan and water sports enthusiast, Dr. Wakefield also enjoys boating, camping, home improvement projects and spending time with his family.
