Vaginitis Is Uncomfortable…

Signs/Symptoms include: Pain • Swelling • Discharge • Itching • Burning

You’re not alone. In fact, vaginitis is so common, nearly every woman experiences it in some form at least once in her life. Most of the infections referred to as vaginitis are caused by a change in the balance of bacteria in the vagina. Factors affecting the balance include sex, antibiotics, tight pants, damp underpants or swimwear, diet, birth control, douches/soaps, vaginal sprays, lubricants, and pregnancy.

….Getting Relief Isn’t

Our medical team specializes in providing gentle, compassionate care for women. The sooner you schedule your appointment, the sooner you’ll feel better.

Treatment of vaginitis may include Sitz baths (which can be purchased at your local pharmacy) and following proper toilet and hygiene techniques. Many women assume vaginal symptoms are the result of a sexually transmitted disease (STD), which is often NOT the case. A patient’s idea of vaginal normality may be inaccurate and result in increased or unnecessary treatment seeking.

Preventative Care Suggestions:

  • Avoiding irritants in the vaginal area, such as perfumes, soaps, lotions, and panty liners, use clippers instead of razors, no douching
  • After swimming or exercise, which keeps the vaginal area moist, air-drying the area or changing the underwear. Wear cotton underwear, no thongs.
  • Always cleaning the area from front to back.
